  • Never miss important industry updates with automated monitoring of top marketing publications
  • Reduce information overload through AI-powered relevance filtering that learns your preferences
  • Receive professionally formatted newsletters ready to read on any device

This workflow is perfect for marketing professionals, agency leaders, brand managers, and anyone who needs to stay current with advertising and marketing trends without spending hours browsing news sites.

Required Integrations

RSS (Built-in)

Why it's needed: The RSS integration fetches articles from multiple marketing and advertising news feeds, providing the raw content that powers your newsletter.

Setup steps:

  1. No authentication required - RSS is a built-in TaskAGI capability
  2. The workflow monitors four feeds by default:
    • Campaign India main feed
    • ET Top Stories
    • ET Business of Brands
    • ET Digital Marketing
  3. Each RSS node automatically extracts article titles, links, descriptions, and publication dates

Configuration: RSS nodes work out-of-the-box with no API keys needed. Simply ensure the feed URLs are active and accessible.

OpenAI

Why it's needed: OpenAI's GPT-4 model acts as your intelligent content filter, analyzing each article to determine if it's relevant to marketing, advertising, and brand management topics.

Setup steps:

  1. Visit platform.openai.com and create an account
  2. Navigate to API Keys section in your account settings
  3. Click "Create new secret key" and copy the key immediately (it won't be shown again)
  4. Add billing information to your OpenAI account (the workflow uses cost-effective GPT-4o-mini model)
  5. In TaskAGI, go to IntegrationsOpenAI
  6. Click "Add Integration" and paste your API key
  7. Name the integration (e.g., "OpenAI News Filter") and save

Expected costs: GPT-4o-mini costs approximately $0.15 per 1M input tokens. For 50-100 articles daily, expect less than $1-2 per month.

Google Sheets

Why it's needed: Google Sheets serves as temporary storage for relevant articles throughout the day, allowing the workflow to accumulate content before sending a single consolidated newsletter.

Setup steps:

  1. Create a new Google Sheet in your Google Drive
  2. Name it something like "Marketing News Buffer"
  3. Add headers in the first row: Title, Link, Description, Published Date, Source
  4. Copy the complete sheet URL from your browser
  5. In TaskAGI, go to IntegrationsGoogle Sheets
  6. Click "Connect Google Account"
  7. Authorize TaskAGI to access your Google Sheets
  8. Complete the OAuth flow and confirm the connection

Important: The sheet URL should look like: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/SHEET_ID/edit#gid=0

Gmail

Why it's needed: Gmail delivers your curated newsletter directly to your inbox with professional HTML formatting.

Setup steps:

  1. In TaskAGI, navigate to IntegrationsGmail
  2. Click "Connect Google Account"
  3. Select the Google account where you want to receive newsletters
  4. Grant TaskAGI permission to send emails on your behalf
  5. Confirm the authorization and verify the connection is active

Note: The workflow sends emails from your own Gmail account to yourself (or specified recipients), ensuring high deliverability and avoiding spam filters.

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Set Your Schedule Trigger

The Schedule Trigger node determines when your newsletter runs.

  1. Click on the Schedule Trigger node
  2. Set your preferred frequency:
    • Daily at 6 PM (recommended): Captures full day's articles
    • Twice daily (8 AM and 6 PM): Morning and evening digests
    • Weekdays only: Avoid weekend noise
  3. Configure timezone to match your location
  4. Enable the trigger when ready to go live

Example configuration:

Schedule: 0 18 * * * (Daily at 6:00 PM)
Timezone: Asia/Kolkata

Step 2: Configure RSS Feed Nodes

Four RSS nodes collect articles from different sources. Each is pre-configured, but you can customize:

  1. Campaign India RSS: Monitors main Campaign India feed
  2. ET Top Stories RSS: Economic Times top marketing stories
  3. ET Business of Brands RSS: Brand-focused content
  4. ET Digital Marketing RSS: Digital marketing innovations

To add additional feeds:

  • Duplicate an existing RSS node
  • Update the feed URL
  • Connect it to the Combine All Feeds node

Step 3: Set Up Article Storage

The Store Relevant Article node requires your Google Sheet URL:

  1. Click on the Store Relevant Article node
  2. Find the sheet_url parameter
  3. Replace YOUR_GOOGLE_SHEET_URL_HERE with your actual sheet URL
  4. Ensure the sheet has the correct column headers
  5. Test the connection using the "Test Node" button

Critical: Also update the same URL in:

  • Get Stored Articles node
  • Clear Sheet After Send node

All three nodes must reference the same Google Sheet.

Step 4: Customize AI Relevance Filter

The AI Relevance Filter node uses GPT-4o-mini to evaluate article relevance:

  1. Click on the AI Relevance Filter node
  2. Review the prompt that defines "relevant" content
  3. Customize the prompt to match your interests:
    • Add specific topics you want to prioritize
    • Exclude certain subjects
    • Adjust relevance criteria

Default prompt focuses on:

  • Marketing campaigns and strategies
  • Advertising trends and innovations
  • Brand management and positioning
  • Digital marketing and social media
  • Consumer behavior insights

Example customization:

Add to prompt: "Prioritize articles about influencer marketing,
performance marketing, and marketing technology platforms."

Step 5: Configure Newsletter Delivery

The Send Newsletter Email node requires your recipient email:

  1. Click on the Send Newsletter Email node
  2. Update the to field from YOUR_EMAIL_HERE to your actual email address
  3. Optionally customize the subject line (default uses dynamic date)
  4. The HTML body is automatically generated from stored articles

Pro tip: Add multiple recipients by separating emails with commas: email1@domain.com, email2@domain.com

Step 6: Review Data Flow

Understanding how data moves through the workflow:

  1. RSS feeds → Articles collected from four sources
  2. Combine All Feeds → Merges all articles into single array
  3. Loop Over Articles → Processes each article individually
  4. AI Relevance Filter → Evaluates each article's relevance
  5. Check If Relevant → Routes to storage or skip
  6. Store Relevant Article → Saves to Google Sheet
  7. Get Stored Articles → Retrieves accumulated articles
  8. Create Newsletter HTML → Formats professional email
  9. Check Has Articles → Ensures content exists before sending
  10. Send Newsletter Email → Delivers to inbox
  11. Clear Sheet After Send → Resets storage for next run

Testing Your Agent

Initial Test Run

  1. Disable the schedule trigger temporarily to prevent automatic execution
  2. Click the "Run Workflow" button in the top-right corner
  3. Watch the execution flow in real-time as nodes light up
  4. Check for any red error indicators

Verification Checklist

After RSS collection:

  • Verify that 20-50+ articles were fetched (check node output)
  • Confirm articles have titles, links, and descriptions

After AI filtering:

  • Review which articles were marked relevant (typically 10-30%)
  • Check the AI's reasoning in the node output
  • Adjust the prompt if filtering is too strict or lenient

In Google Sheet:

  • Open your sheet and verify relevant articles appear
  • Confirm all columns are populated correctly
  • Check that dates and sources are accurate

Newsletter email:

  • Check your inbox for the newsletter
  • Verify HTML formatting displays correctly
  • Click several article links to ensure they work
  • Review subject line and sender information

After completion:

  • Confirm the Google Sheet was cleared
  • Check that no error messages appear in the workflow log

Success Indicators

Workflow completes without errors
3-15 relevant articles stored (varies by day)
Newsletter received within 2-3 minutes
All article links are clickable and valid
HTML formatting is clean and readable
Google Sheet is empty after send (ready for next run)

Troubleshooting

"No articles found" or Empty Newsletter

Cause: RSS feeds may be temporarily unavailable, or AI filter is too strict.

Solutions:

  • Check that RSS feed URLs are still active by opening them in a browser
  • Review AI filter prompt and make criteria less restrictive
  • Verify the date range - some feeds may not publish on weekends
  • Check OpenAI integration is connected and has available credits

Google Sheets "Permission Denied" Error

Cause: TaskAGI doesn't have access to your sheet, or the URL is incorrect.

Solutions:

  • Verify the sheet URL is complete and correct
  • Re-authorize Google Sheets integration in TaskAGI
  • Ensure the sheet is not restricted to specific users
  • Check that the sheet has the correct column headers in row 1

Newsletter Not Received

Cause: Gmail integration issue or email filtered to spam.

Solutions:

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Verify Gmail integration is active in TaskAGI
  • Confirm the recipient email address is correct
  • Check workflow logs for email sending errors
  • Ensure your Google account has not revoked TaskAGI permissions

"OpenAI API Error" or Rate Limit

Cause: Invalid API key, insufficient credits, or rate limiting.

Solutions:

  • Verify your OpenAI API key is correct and active
  • Check your OpenAI account has billing information and available credits
  • If rate limited, reduce the number of RSS feeds or schedule less frequently
  • Consider upgrading your OpenAI account tier for higher limits

Articles Not Being Filtered Correctly

Cause: AI prompt may not align with your definition of "relevant."

Solutions:

  • Review the AI Relevance Filter prompt and add specific examples
  • Include explicit topics to prioritize or exclude
  • Test with sample articles to refine the criteria
  • Consider adjusting the model temperature for more consistent results

Duplicate Articles in Newsletter

Cause: Google Sheet not clearing properly between runs.

Solutions:

  • Verify the Clear Sheet After Send node has the correct sheet URL
  • Manually clear the sheet and run the workflow again
  • Check that the clear operation is connected in the workflow flow
  • Ensure the workflow completes fully (doesn't timeout early)

Next Steps

After Successful Setup

Week 1: Monitor and Refine

  • Review each newsletter for relevance and quality
